JANUARY EVENTS

FREE FAMILY READ & PLAY DAY

January 27th, 10-11 a.m.
Multipurpose room
The Salvation Army Kroc Center will host a FREE Family Read & Play Day for children ages 0-5 and their guardians. At this month’s event, the group will read a book together and learn new songs. All children will receive a free copy of the book A Box Can Be Many Things.

FREE FAMILY ARTS & LITERACY NIGHT

January 29th, 6:30-8 p.m.
Multipurpose Room
The free Family Arts & Literacy Night will feature a performance by the SDSU Performing Arts Troupe, under the direction of Jerry Hager. The group will bring new life to old radio as they present a broadcast for today’s audience filled with music, sounds effects, and comedy. Each family will receive a free copy of the book Snow Music.

FEBRUARY EVENTS

FREE KROC FIT KIDS FAMILY FUN NIGHT

Thursday, February 19th, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Education Courtyard
Families are invited play a game of soccer together, followed by enjoying treats from a make-your-own trail mix buffet.
Save the date! Kroc Fit Kids Family Fun Nights will also be held on March 19th, and May 21st.

FREE FAMILY READ & PLAY DAY

Tuesday, February 17th, 10-11 a.m.
Multipurpose Room
This FREE donor-funded program includes a 20-minute read along and sing along for children ages 5 and under. Each new participant will receive a backpack filled with books, flash cards, and reading materials to give little ones a head start on reading. Returning participants will receive a new copy of the book The Carrot Seed by Ruth Krauss. Following the read along, families and children are invited to explore their imaginations and building skills with our imagination playground.

FREE FAMILY ARTS & LITERACY NIGHT

February 28th, 6:30-8 p.m.
Multipurpose Room
Besos de Coco (coconut kisses) features vocalist/guitarist Lorraine Castellanos, double bassist Evona Wascinski and tap percussionist Claudia Gomez performing various musical styles from around the world including Spanish flamenco, Afro-Latin, Brazilian and contemporary hip hop rhythms. Following Besos de Coco, create a colorful Picasso styled abstract art guitar picture with artist Christina Thurston. Each family will receive a free copy of Salsa Stories by Lulu Delacre.
Save the date! Family Arts & Literacy Nights will also be held on March 26th, and May 16th.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY

Celebrate Recovery meets every Monday at 6:15 pm.
We have live music, a positive vibe and lots of fun people to encourage you in your recovery.Meetings offered include Christian 12 Step Recovery, Biblical Recovery for the drug addiction, Alcoholism, Codependency,  Guilt/Shame, General Accountability. We also offer an Adult Bible Study (not recovery-oriented) for those who use our Monday night events as a mid-week church service.
