Day Camp

In keeping with The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center Mission Statement, the Day Camp program provides children of all ability levels the opportunity to play and grow in a positive and safe environment. We strive to develop the whole child- mentally, physically, and emotionally- through structured group activities that aid in socialization and self-confidence through exploration and adventure.

Junior Leaders

Junior Leaders Training- Teen Leadership Development
Ages 14 - 17

Junior Leaders explore various facets of what it takes to be a leader in the community and among peers. The training will help teens learn what great leaders say & do, participating in fun & interesting activities to help practice saying & doing these things. A high & low ropes course experience will focus on developing leadership skills relevant to supervising children in a camp setting, followed by valuable debrief sessions to facilitate the transference of new knowledge to everyday life. The training includes a full orientation to the Kroc Center venues, CPR & First Aid training, and child abuse awareness training.

After successfully completing the training, teens may enroll in up to 9 weeks of Junior Leaders volunteering in the Kroc Center Day Camp, putting their new leadership skills to practice. Teens are mentored by experienced camp counselors, assisting with activity leadership and connecting with the children. Projects may also include planning and organizing special camper activities and experiencing the behind-the-scenes aspects of camp.
